The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Rivers State has arrested two persons for allegedly vandalising a pipeline and operating illegal refineries.
Commandant Lawal Haruna, who addressed a news conference yesterday, said the suspects were arrested at Amabiukiri Creek in Okrika Local Government.
Five functional illegal refineries and five others, under construction, were destroyed.
According to Haruna, the continuous construction of illegal refineries showed that vandals were not prepared to abandon the crime.
“The suspects should key into programmes floated by the Federal and State governments for them, instead of engaging in illegal activities which pollute the environment,” Haruna said.
