The highly sought after Atletico Madrid striker, who has an £85m release clause, is Jose Mourinho’s top priority summer transfer target.
Recent reports have indicated the Frenchman will be given a four-year contract worth £300,000 a week to link up with good friend Paul Pogba.
He has been reportedly discussing a move with his France team-mate Pogba and has spoken openly about linking up at club level.
Initially it was claimed that Griezmann would only move to Old Trafford if Manchester United finish in the top four to secure a Champions League berth.
However, it is now believed Griezmann would like to join Manchester United even if they fail to qualify for the Champions League next season.
And according to a report from Sunday Mirror, the Red Devils are hoping to bargain on Griezmann’s asking price. They are willing to pay as much as £60 million for the 25-year-old La Liga hotshot.
But if Atletico stay firm for the full amount, Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is ready to break the bank to get him. Woodward this week insisted the club would continue to spend in a phone call with investors.
